Hi, I'm Zoe Orion
I'm a music journalist committed to sharing thoughtful and well-researched content, highlighting the industry's most boundary-pushing art and the one-of-a-kind human stories behind it.
My work has been featured in Alt Press Magazine, A Journal of Musical Things, 102.1 The Edge, Melodic Magazine, Canadian Beats, and more. I am also a host of New Music from the Inbox, the music discovery podcast where my co-hosts and I listen to the hundreds of songs that land in our inboxes every week, curate our faves and share them with each other.
I hold a Bachelor of Arts in Cognitive Science from York University – an official certification of my passion for exploring identity, community, and human nature, plus my skills in critical thinking and accurate research.
In my free time, you can find me playing instruments, perfecting my DJ mixes, reading about music and culture, enjoying nature, trying new recipes, and spending time with friends.

TESTIMONIALS
2 minute video featuring Holly Humberstone, The Sheepdogs, The Greeting Committee, and more
I have worked with Zoe for the past two years as a writer that I’ve pitched for album reviews, artist interviews, single features and opinion pieces pertaining to the Universal Music Canada artist roster.
Over the past two years getting to work with Zoe, she has demonstrated tremendous passion for the music we share with her and dedication to supporting developing Canadian musicians. Zoe is ambitious and organized; always working with our communications team on multiple stories at once, all the while staying mindful of deadlines. She is motivated to create compelling articles with recognizable artists and is unafraid to pitch or follow up with our team or ask for opportunities to work with musicians that she is passionate about.
In an interview setting, Zoe puts an interviewee at ease, by finding points of connection but also comes to an interview well-researched with thoughtful questions. Zoe demonstrates poise and attention to whomever she is speaking to and is able to creatively translate conversations into captivating editorials for any reader.

I have had the pleasure of working with Zoe Orion on a number of occasions over the past few years while she was a contributor to Melodic Magazine.
Every time she interviews one of the artists I represent (including Wallows, flor, joan, and others), it is clear how much preparation she puts into each subject. She makes the artists think with interesting and unique questions, and she always makes them feel comfortable around her.
